According to Elinor Aspegren’s article on USA Today, Connecticut is the 19th state to legalize recreational marijuana. Since July 1st, 21 and older will be allowed to possess and consume marijuana under the new law that Government Ned. Lamont had signed. Connecticut joins two different groups: the first one is making their state number 18 in fully legalizing recreational marijuana for adults and the second group would be legalizing the drug for this year, 2021.

Connecticut is one of few states that has a law clearing marijuana convictions under certain conditions which would be any records from January 1st, 2000 to September 30th, 2015. The other stats that also has this law in place are Montana, Michigan, New York, Vermont, Virginia and Utah. Arizona will start expungements in August.
